So this is an interesting one. Its not showing off honestly we’re only mentioning it because of an unusual, or unlikely occurance we’ve noticed. We mentioned it in passing a little while ago when we briefly took #1 for SEO by Design (dropped again to #2 currently) but we got the chance to look a little more closely at the goings on tonight.
The search ** SEO Designs ** was first brought to our attention by receiving hits from it, as one of our pages is showing #8 ish on the first page. ..Now this is all well and good, and obviously we’d like to take credit etc, however we have never targeted the plural version of the word.
By “targeted” we mean aimed links at it using that anchor text, used the word in pagetitles, file / url paths, metas, or onpage <h> titles or any of the more usual optimisation techniques. The word “designs” itself only appears once on the ranking page, right near the end of the onpage text.
We originally focused that page at the ** SEO Design ** search and we would understand if it were flying high in that search too, as you would expect that design+s would be tagging along behind, however as we havent yet gotten round to pushing in that direction, the page is #120-something.
The page is also absolutely nowhere to be seen in the allintitle: or allinurl: searches, and we can categorically state that there is not a single link pointing inbound at it with the anchor text “designs” on it.
So, something is making Google place our page highly here when we would not have expected it, and we’re a little stumped for good ideas apart from looking like there may be some truth to the “keyword at the bottom of the page” hypothesis we’ve seen mentioned, from this result.
The screenshot below however, is an SEO Design intended effect. We’re closing in fast on Business SEO & SEO by Design, and so obviously if we’ve gotten it right the overlaps should now be working something like this.…

ok, maybe that was just a little bit of showing off to finish up with, sorry, but it’s not every day you see yourself above a highly respected company who have 2 of your target keywords in their domain name .. ![]()
