The seo power page on our main site has done what we thought it would do, following the end of seocontest2008 we let the target post on the blog settle in a particular search:

..it had been steady-ish at #8 for a week or so, when we then placed the “superstrong” link (ie lots of juice into the page, only one link off of it) on the main site’s seo power page- pointing at the target blog post (above).
The power link was cached on 03 May 08 and on checking today, has pushed the target post up above the #3 overall prize winner for seocontest2008 to #1 for the terms, despite the previous #1 site - seocontest2008.org having far greater overall inbound linkstrength.
Despite the seocontest2008.org site being a massive +32 places above us at the end of the seocontest2008 competition, and 7 places above us for our target search ** seo contest 2008 experiments ** 3 weeks ago at the beginning of this test, just one “mother” link from our seo power page with that exact anchor text on it was enough to muscle past in just one week from the link caching. (The seocontest2008.org site also made PR4, as opposed to our PR3 in the last update, as a reflection of the greater IBLs they have)
Obviously we had tightly aligned anchor text from the motherlink, to our seocontest post page titles, and its also unlikely the seocontest.org site has (m) any anchors with “experiments” used either. ..but we only have the one, and so are inclined to think that sitewide links into a power page on your own site, and focused back out of just one link offpage, does in fact provide one serious “mother of a link”
..bearing in mid we have also removed nearly all other links we had previously pointed at the blogpost as well, it’s fairly safe to say this is somewhat of a tractor beam of a link, a real mutha.

PR doesnt matter hmm? …seems if you focus a whole lot of it down one link through your ideal anchor text it matters quite a lot. ..Next to test if they work internally as well. ..this may well turn out to be “T3h R3al PR Sculpting..”
