Ok just 18 days ago we set Google’s GEO targeting from Spain to UK inside WMT here and today have fairly conclusive proof that things are happening inside the big G on this front.
Exactly one week later we had what we assumed to be a freak result - small business seo on .co.uk ..that now looks like it might not have been such a freak occurrence after all.. ?
This morning Woopra showed us a live hit on Google.co.uk for “SEO for small business” - the first time we’ve seen a hit on this phrase on .co.uk ever, so intrigued we tried the search…
Look at the result
…and not just the position, note the fact that this user has ticked the “pages from the UK only” button to get this result. without that button ticked the results are radically different (we’re not in them)
Also about a week ago we moved from #2 to #1 for “Business SEO” on Google.co.uk and are still there at the time of writing this, see second screenshot…
.
this second one doesnt really prove anything except that the WMT settings definitely don’t hurt UK rankings, but watching phrases across .com and .co.uk is starting to show patterns of the UK SEO slightly outranking some of the .com rankings for the same phrase, but still totally not in the same ballpark as others..
Interesting stuff.
