So a few days ago while trying to get our collective heads around the perennial grey toolbar nonsense we noticed that a page we had never really taken seriously, and had pretty much neglected and forgotten about, that was originally meant as a place to exchange links from if ever required, had suddenly gone from grey to PR4, (as many other of our pages have, and do, back and forth, on an ongoing basis)

So as it’s called Random & Miscellaneous, we threw a load of mates, SEO & Ibiza miscellaneous links in there and found a “random” picture we liked and slung that in too..

Not 3 days later Woopra just suddenly started lighting up with untold Google image hits for “random” and various permutations of the word, “random pictures” random images etc..

And when we looked we’re like #2 or #3 on most checks, for the word.

How random..

What we can definitely deduce from this then, is that grey or PR4, there’s real pagerank-a-plenty flowing through this page, because you don’t appear overnight at the top of 35 million page, one word keyword searches without any at all.

In our experience image traffic is much like social media spikes, they rarely read more than the one page, most are probably after the image for their own blogging or something anyway..

And cue another few million link exchange request emails..

(NO THANK YOU, WE DONT DO LINK EXCHANGES!!)
