And on to part 3 of our WP SEO Secrets series. We covered quite a lot in the previous 2 posts, if you havent read them, you need to, they’re here.

Real WordPress Seo Secrets Part I

WordPress Seo Secrets Part II – Content Creation

So moving on where we left off at the end of part 2, lets take a look at how the WordPress SEO campaign is shaping up at 8 days in. The terms in the green box are the static page positions currently.

All the other phrases are being picked up by one of the (now 3) blog posts. Note entries for the ultimate targets on “Pages from the UK” which is easier, and so shows progress sooner.

..So lets run back through the procedure again..

Put up static page, optimised for big target phrases

Initial announcement / launch post 1

WP SEO Secrets Part I

—– ” —– Part II

—– ” —– Part III (this post when we publish it)

Then look at the Google site: search below.

You can see that querying our site with the site: search for the ultimate term, shows the intended page order (static, Green) at the top, and the 3 blog posts ( yellow, light orange & dark orange ) lined up below it. The blue posts are previous content that we back-searched and linked from.

Note all 3 blog posts link to each other (go back into earlier ones and add links to later posts if you didn’t use the trackback method) and remember that the group of blog posts also trackback to other posts outside the group to strengthen themselves, and all posts temporarily pick up sitewide TAT links from being included in the sidebar.

We are aiming to develop a “deep relevance cluster” around the WordPress SEO terms (top level) and everything related to it below, for the longtail traffic. Rank the top page for the big words, link into the more detailed content in the blog from there. This is the way to get indents constantly without really trying. Overlapping Page titles and URLs can actually cause indented listings, but linking between the pages concerned with ideal TAT more or less guarantees it when people hit your longtail terms.

Over time, the blog posts will fade in the SERP, but the relevance of their links wont, and as they slide slightly downwards over time, the static page will have been climbing, they’ll cross in the middle, develop indents (sometimes immediately, dependent on terms) and then the static page will continue upawrds showing indents whenever people use your longtail terms, i.e. on this example..

WordPress SEO + any other term we’ve covered anywhere in the blog – remember, we’re aiming to multiply blog longtail potential by the amount of static pages above.

.. Easy huh? .. Like this..

SEO demonstration was one of our first terms, it’s the ranking strength of the static page here that pulls up the “algo update” from within, we would be nowhere for “SEO algo update” or just “algo update”.

You’ll also get this kind of thing below, this is the sidebar links into the main site mixing it up with one of the latest posts causing the blog domain to rank where it wouldn’t if those sidebar links weren’t there.

Do you see now why it’s advantageous to have static pages above you, and show lots of content in the sidebar? This will work over as many pages as you have in your blog, multiplied by as many static pages you have above you, if you get the structure of your content right.

With WordPress your content truly is king, if you know how to create and work it…

Ok given the length of the 2 previous posts we’re going to wind up here today, and can now predict there will be two more posts in the series covering (mainly) offsite strategies and tactics.

Hope you’ve enjoyed, any questions, get in the comments, and get yourself a dofollow link.

Ibiza out.

UPDATE 28.04.09 – 10 days from launch here compared against the positions in the image above- the big terms are coming online now and into the top 100 positions from their entry at 290+ something..

The Green boxes are the static page
