With so much of such immense importance going on globally, the risk of imminent collapse of the $US at pretty much any point going forwards now, (and the fact that  the British Pound is inextricably linked to and in no better shape than the Dollar and/or the Euro, who knows?) so SEO Ibiza have now switched to the Gold Standard as our reserve currency this week, basically because we don’t trust anybody else’s.

We would ask anyone with excess liquidity in either USD or GBP to seriously think about doing the same for the forseeable future. If your small business is currently sitting on any kind of cash reserves, think about preserving it’s value right now.

If anybody is seriously believing these clowns on the TV telling us we’re into “recovery” you need to think again, and you need to do it quickly.

So its been quite difficult to focus only on the SEO world, but there have also been some significant developments in SEO land this week, the Google caffeine speculation about whether it would go live on Labor day didn’t come to pass, the world is still waiting, as it’s still potentially imminent at any point we suppose. So what’s the next US holiday, (apart from suddenly imposed panic Bank Holidays) – Thanksgiving?  …that would make sense, we can all give thanks to Google for whatever we receive

The most significant new SEO development we’ve seen  is that (old) Google has suddenly started showing links in meta descriptions, first picked up by Rob Green @ icrossing.co.uk here and shown again in the example below. Note we havent yet seen them in Caffeine – giving us further possible clues as to the likely readiness of it?

So far we’ve also only seen them in the top few positions, on the kind of sites that might have shown mini-sitelinks (or real sitelinks) otherwise, but we are looking into this (in our usual depth – it’s Saturday  and beach day remember) as we  speak.
