Up To Date SEO Information?

by seoibiza on 12, February, 2012

So this is one of our SEO experiments posts, absent from the site for quite some time now, because although almost every post usually contains some form of experimentation one way or another, it’s been quite a while since we did one specifically for the purpose, as far back as the good old days of  the  ”brand new SXO”  or the SEO Scotland testing (remember that?  :) )

So this post has been prompted by some interesting new “SEO information”  ie:

  1. Links don’t affect SERPs or rankings at all any more.
  2. Anybody who thinks they do doesn’t understand SEO

Apparently the only people who think that links do affect rankings are either outdated and don’t know what they’re talking about, or are just pumping their SEO linking software (SEOMoz for example)

Seriously, .. No BS SEO <—  here – that’s (one of) the test links that will apparently make no difference to rankings of the page.

So, far be it from us to go round starting on people on the internet (very much any more :) ) but when you:

  1. advertise your whole business and brand as “NO BS SEO”
  2. seem to have not very much idea what you’re talking about
  3. And this is the critical one – go round the internet starting on much better and more successful SEOs than yourself telling them they don’t know what they’re talking about because you “did a test”

In the end, your luck will run out and someone will probably call you out..

Well, as it should happen, since the very first inception of this site back in 2007, we have done nothing but test with it one way and another, and many rankings put in place all the way back in 2008/09 are still there (some above people who would generally be regarded as very much better known and qualified than us) like this..

Now we know these are not “competitive” keywords, as in people are building lots of powerful links to try and get past us, and we are also fairly confident that Mr Martinez would not approve of our “SEO scientific” methods much either, however as most of the “serious” testing really stopped in 2009, and most of the test rankings still remain..

..And this through countless Google updates, 2 full site rebuilds, multiple URL changes, changes to GEO targeting (and back again) and much more besides..  ..all in the way of SEO testing, with lots of stuff we have talked about – ie advanced WordPress SEO user tactics..

advanced wordpress seo

But also lots of more experimental trickery going on under the hood from time to time that doesn’t get more than hinted at, and only ever discussed with peers in private,  so it’s probably fair to say we have a reasonable idea what is involved in ranking in the SERPs?

And we are categorically stating that quality Links definitely affect rankings and that we are going to use our know how and resources to squash this utter BS SEO information here and now, before too many people get suckered in by it and waste time and money on all the wrong things in SEO.

New business plan required amigo.. ;)

Brilliant post and I am looking forward to more, nice to see the posts back, I have been following your site from 2009 and had some great success from a few small tips you gave me. Get it right from the start and watch the rankings grown.

Look forward to more!
